Emily's Lamp

My sweet friend Emily asked me to do some things for her room.  One of the things was to "dress up" this lamp.  I was so excited.  As most of you know I am the only female in my house (pets included) so I LUV any opportunity I get to do something girly!

Emily has lots of fun colors in her room, oranges, pinks, yellow, turquoise, brown.  I found this cute ribbon that had all those colors and this fun fury trim.

Wouldn't you luv this if you were a young girl???  Hey, I luv it and I'm an old girl!

War Eagle Photo Frame

My friend (who likes to wait until THE very last milisecond to buy gifts - lol!) sends me a text this morning and wants to know if I have any Auburn frames (it was like 10:30 and she needed it by 11:00 - lol!).  Luckily for her I had this one that just needed a few finishing touches.  It was for her mamma who is a GINORMOUS Auburn fan!

Didn't it turn out cute?  I can't wait to make some more!!

WAAAARRRRRR EAGLE!!!

(and, yes, I do plan to make some for that other team)

Emaline's Bed

Remember my sweet little friend Emaline's cute desk?  Here's a photo to refresh your memory:

Well, you might remember that I mentioned that I had also painted a bed for her.  Here it is in the beginning.  Isn't it sweet?  It belonged to her mamma when she was a little girl, doesn't that make it even sweeter?  But, sweet as it is, it does NOT go with the new color scheme!

So we painted it chocolate brown (isn't that a sweet color???).  Isn't that bedding to die for???  I luv, luv, luv the zebra print and the polka dots!!

And I LUV, LUV, LUV that pillow!  ...follow your dreams... what a wonderful message for a young girl.  We should all learn to follow our dreams...

Fall Door Arrangements

I made these fall door arrangements for a sweet lady in Moody, Alabama and shipped them out last week.  She got them today and I can't wait to see a picture of them hanging on her doors!
I love spreadin' smiles all over the great state of Alabama!

The Wedding Gift

So yesterday when I was posting all the things I had done over the last couple of weeks I knew I was forgetting something.  Finally, today I remembered what it was.  My friend needed a wedding gift.  She really wanted to do something with the invitation, and she really wanted to do it herself because it was for a very dear friend's daughter, but she truly did not have time.  So she did the next best thing and asked me if I could do something with it.  I have been making these frames out of lumber and using some different paint techniques, so we decided to frame it kind of like some graduation invitations I had done recently.  She picked out the paint finish and colors and I did the rest.  I think it turned out nice, and luckily so did the bride!

Roll Tide Bow

Alrighty foks, I think I'm down to the end of my two weeks (see the beginning of my posts way on down the page).  I told you I hadn't been sitting around eating bon-bons!

My sweet neighbor behind me asked me if I could make her an Alabama bow and as much as it pains me to do it, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to make a living, so alas, I made her a Roll Tide bow.  I knew I was going to have to do it come fall, I had already prepared myself and had actually even ordered some of that dang houndstooth ribbon all those Alabama people are crazy about (ok, maybe it is kind of cute).  So, I've done it now, I've gotten it over with so I can make some more without too much pain now.  If you need one just give me a holla, but please be considerate and don't holla "Roll Tide" and I promise I won't holla "Waaaaaaaaaarrrrr Eagle!"

Marissa's Coffee Table

My friend Marissa always gets the BEST bargains!  You know the type, the one that just happens to be at Tuesday Morning when the 100% silk drapes for $19.99 come in - yeah, that type.  If she wasn't so dang nice I'd probably dislike her a whole lot!  Well, she calls me up and says she picked up this coffee table at Goodwill for $14.99 and wants to know if I can make it look like that one at Pottery Barn that she just LUVS, but they're asking $700 for it so she'll never have it, "you know the one Debbie, you know, its distressed cream on the bottom and the top is natural or stained or whatever..."  "Sure" I say just drop it off.  So here she (yeah, I know all my furniture is female - I think its because I live in a house full of males) is in the beginning.  Really a very nice table, just some scratches and what-not that can be fixed easily.  So I flip her over to start painting because I usually start upside down and I could kill myself for not taking a picture of what I saw, but I promise I wouldn't lie about a thing like this, but as luck would have it what do I see branded on the underside - friggin' ETHAN ALLEN - yep, that's right, she'd done it again!  Some people have all the luck!

Sorry people, but once again I forgot the in-between shots, I promise I'm going to do better!  But here's how she turned out:

I love how the sides fold down.

Here are some close-ups so you can see some of the details (at least I didn't forget that part!)

I'd say she got her $700 table after all!

Avery's Table

It is time for my sweet friend Avery to go back to Auburn, WAR EAGLE!!  and she needed a little bedside table for her room.  I picked this one up for her and as you can see it needs a little TLC!

I gave her a coat of paint...

and then I distressed her, waxed and buffed her and, of course, forgot to take her picture!  Avery's mamma had to text these to me!  She turned out really cute!  All ready for college life, wonder how many beer cans she can hold... JUST KIDDING!

Mrs. Paige's Kitchen

So my sweet friend Paige teaches preschool and she has the CUTEST classroom evah!  It is so stinkin' cute it makes me want to go to preschool!  So she asks me if I could paint this little kitchen set she got.  Well, first of all, let me just put it on out there that I am sooooo intimidated because she is like the most CREATIVE person I know and is so capable of doing this herself, and I promise it would be sooooooo much cuter than anything I can do!  So she tells me she wants it cute, but subdued, not busy (remember these words).  Maybe just plain ol' white with some soft flowers.  Well, I do that, and people let me just say it was boring, and I mean B-O-R-I-N-G!  So I text her and I ask her what she thinks about stripes - says she loves them - so I repaint the little kitchen using stripes, and when I'm done I hate it and I mean H-A-T-E it!  So I repaint it again and this time I just go with what I'm feeling.

Here is what it looked like before (well this is what the stove looked like, of course I forgot to take a pic of the sink before I got started - soooo gotta get better about that!  but suffice it to say it looked similar):

And here it is after I'm done going with the flow:

I am thinking:  she is sooooo going to K-I-L-L me!  and I text her saying just that because this is soooooo NOT what we talked about - remember:  subdued, non-busy...

uhm hum... subdued and non-busy...

Oh yeah, she did say she wanted them distressed, well, I did get that part right!  Here they are after I've finished going with the flow and distressing them:

My favorite parts are the sides.  And I'm thinking, "yeah, I think that distressing toned them down a bit."  uhm hum...

uhm hum...  subdued and non-busy...  she is sooooooo going to K-I-L-L me!

My sweet little neighbors who visit me everyday to check the progress, everytime saying "you repainted them AGAIN???"  well, they're LOVING it and they keep reassuring me and telling me that if my friend doesn't like them then there is something "seriously wrong with her" - lol!  I love children!  (BTW, Anna-Majors' favorite part is the sink!)

So I'm done and I text my friend saying that I am FINALLY done (only missed my deadline by three days - I've NEVER missed a deadline - my OCDism just about did me in on that fact alone!) and I assure her that if she totally hates it we can repaint it (but secretly I'm thinking I'm going to die, just kill over D-E-A-D if I gotta repaint these darn things one more time! - besides I LOVED them and so did Anna-Majors and Coleman and EVERYONE else who saw them!  surely she would love them too - but those words kept haunting me - ya know the ones...

SUBDUED and NON-BUSY!!!

So I load them in the car and I deliver them.  She is worried to death and I catch her peeking out the window because I have freaked her out so bad she just knows she is going to H-A-T-E them and she wants to be prepared to tell me what a friggin' mess I have made of her cute little kitchen (but in a nice way, because that's how she is), but thank the Big Man Upstairs (that I had secretely been begging to intervene so that my friend would not K-I-L-L me because I wasn't quite ready to meet Him yet!) she L-O-V-E-D them!!!!!  And, I must admit, they look so stinkin' cute in her stinkin' cute classroom!!!

College Gift

My friend needed a gift for a college student and asked if I could make a photo frame to match her friend's dorm room.  Her colors were bright orange and hot pink.  LUV, LUV, LUV this color combo!  I think it turned out sooooo cute!  I will definitely be making some more of these!

Kiki's Frames

For my FB fans who remember Lady Blue and Sister Blue.  Well, my sweet friend who owns them just redid her bedroom and the tables matched perfectly.  I happened to remember that I had this ribbon and these frames so I put the two together for her.  They're going to look great in her newly redone room!

Sally Re-Do

So the next thing I did for sweet Emaline is a Sally Re-Do.  Hopefully my FB fans remember Sally.  She was a sweet little thing that needed a new life.  Well, Emaline's mamma bought her, but remember from my prior post when I said Emaline didn't like the distressed look???  (I know, I know, how could you not??  but we are all entitled to our opinions and we all like different things, its what makes the world go round.)  Anyway, as I was saying Miss Emaline doesn't like the distressed look and Sally was heavily distressed.  For the newcomers this is what she looked like:

Emaline also wanted her to be more white and less "off" so I repainted her.  Here she is now:

Emaline likes her much better!

Here's one more shot of Sally.  I also painted a bed for Emaline, but I don't have an after pic so I'll have to show it later.  I'm waiting for all the new stuff to come in so I can see it all put together.  It's gonna be sooooooo cute!
