started with this:
Apparently someone had tried to do a crackle finish and didn't know what they were doing so they gave up. Crackling does take a little getting used to and I would suggest trying it on something small first.
Here's another shot just in case you didn't quite grasp how bad it was in the other shots.
And what they didn't know is that they actully helped me! People don't realize it but once you add the crackle medium it will crackle again if you paint over it later. I found this out quite by accident when I did a crackle finish on a table for myself and decided I didn't like it and tried to paint over it. Now, I will say that everytime I have painted over something that has been crackled and found that it continued to crackle I was painting over it with Annie Sloan chalk paint. I don't know if you used regular latex if it would keep crackling or not. But, I digress. So I started painting...
and waxing and buffing. Now its all ready for Baby Maddox to put all his teasures in!
By the way, Baby Maddox apparently found out I finished his fabulous trunk and was so excited to see it he decided to make an early appearance!! When I called his mamma to tell her I had finished she was at the hospital! Baby Maddox made his appearance a little while later and both he and his mamma are doing just fine. I can't wait to meet him!!
Welcome Baby Maddox!!
