It is official, I am old. Normally on this day I would be ecstatic over the gorgeous day we have been granted because it was THE day, the day I had been waiting on all year, the day that made my heart pump faster upon wakening and realizing it was THE day. And what day would that be? Well, PARADE day of course. Normally at this time I would be joining my fellow OOMM sistas for some lunch, some dancing and good times to be shared as we all waited for THE moment, THE moment you had been anticipating all year. Your adrenaline is pumping as THE moment comes, THE moment you have been waiting on all year, THE moment when you step on the float and for the next hour and a half you are a ROCK STAR. People are screaming and dancing in the streets, jumping up and down and hoping that you’ll throw them something. It is something you have to experience to understand, and once you experience it you either love it or you hate it, there is no in-between. It’s a feeling that most people don’t understand and think your nuts for doing it. It’s a feeling that I LOVED for years, even after going Honorary and I didn’t ride any more my heart still did a little flip-flop when I woke up and realized it was THE day and I'm excited for my fellow sistas who will be experiencing that adrenaline rush. But this morning when I woke up to this beautiful weather and this glorious sunshine my heart did a flip-flop, but not because it was THE day, but because I could finally pick up my paint brush and finish some projects that people have been patiently waiting for me to do. Things that I had not been able to get to because of the weather. At first I was a little bummed and feeling really old when I realized I’d rather stay home and paint instead of going to share the day with my girlfriends. WOW! What in the world was wrong with me???? But then when I really thought about it I realized that I would much rather spend my time creating something wonderful for someone to put in their home and experience its beauty every day. Something I created… WOW! What an adrenaline rush, someone was going to put something I created in THEIR home. And that thought made my heart go flip-flop.
So Happy Mardi Gras everyone! And to my OOMM sistas I will see you tonight. May you all have a FABULOUS ride and when you pass me by be sure to throw me something sista!
Oh, below are some pics of some of the Mardi Gras stuff I've done this year. Enjoy!
