Yep, its a Real Post from Me - ha!

Well hello groovy people!  So take a moment to get over your shock and amazement because, yes, you really are seeing a blog post from yours truly!!  Unbelievable, huh????  I can't believe it has been almost a year since my last post.

Chances are you wouldn't be reading this one, but a friend recently asked why I never blogged anymore.  After stating my various reasons she said it was too bad because I was really good at it and she missed my funny stories.  Pretty sure she, and maybe ten other people, are the only ones who feel this way...  Truthfully, over the last several months I have been giving serious thought about what to do with this blog, and I think I've finally made some decisions.  There are several reasons why I don't blog anymore.  Like the fact that since I no longer paint furniture I don't really have anything to write about.  Or the fact that now in the blogging world you have to be like a professional photographer which I'm not.  But truthfully, probably the main reason I don't blog anymore is simply because I'm lazy.  There it is in a nutshell.  People don't realize how time consuming blogging is.  Personally I think the main reason my blog never really took off is because I never put the time in that it takes to make  successful blog.  In the beginning I honestly did not have time.  People don't realize how much I worked in the beginning.  Well I worked so much that I literally wore my arm out - haha!  Seriously!  I have a blogger "friend" who told me that my blog wasn't successful because my posts were "too wordy."  Yep, apparently y'all only want to look at pretty pictures.  Well, if that is you then you probably need to move on.  I guess people are too ADD to actually read a real post anymore.  When I first started this blog I had all kinds of plans, but the main reason was at the time Facebook limited the amount of words you could use on a post a I had more to say, A LOT more to say!  And while I may not have developed a huge following I do have a few of you groovy people that always seemed to like what I had to say.

So what I have decided for the future of FCD???  Sadly, I have decided to end it.  I do have a few things to share about some work we've been doing on our house and I have decided to share a couple of my "secret" paint finishes since I no longer generate an income using them.  So I'll share those things and then I'll close this chapter.  I may start a new blog under my name that will be more about my art and possibly musings that go on in this groovy brain of mine because some you seem to be entertained by my wit and charm, but I make no promises that it will come to fruition.  I will be changing the name of my Facebook page to "Debbie Holobaugh Art" and I changed the name on my Instagram several months ago so you can find me on Instagram @debbieholobaughart.

Now, here's a little update on me and my sweet little family cause I know that's all y'all really want to hear about, right???  Well, I  am happy to report that after almost a year and half my arm is finally better!!  People I cannot tell you what it was like to wake up pain free one day!  Seriously, after a over a year of pain every.single.day I honestly didn't think I'd ever be pain free again!  I'm trying to be good and not overdo it, but I have so much I want to do!  Won't it be a hoot when I have to HIRE someone to paint MY furniture - haha!  The art is going well and I'm keeping the the faith that one day I'll be famous - bawhahahaha!!   As with the blog I have been giving serious thought as to how I want to handle my art in the future.  I decided to pull out of the gallery I was in.  I had been there for a few years and I just feel it is time for a change.  I also put my Etsy shop on vacation mode as it really wasn't doing as well as I'd hoped.  Currently you can only get my work through me or at Objects (both locations).  Speaking of artwork, here's some photos of one of my latest pieces.  I'm happy to report it has sold:

Mr. Flower Child is doing well.  He recently moved his showroom/office/warehouse so I have been busy trying to help him get the showroom settled.  It is looking really nice and I'll try to post pictures when we are done.  Flower Bud is enjoying his senior year of high school  (or should I say enjoying that it is almost over - ha!)  and will be going off to college in the fall (*sniff*sniff*).  He has been accepted to Auburn and thankfully was offered a scholarship!!  I'm one proud mamma!!  Pretty sure I'll have to get a job tho to help pay for all the other stuff not covered under the scholarship.  Unless y'all can sell lots of art for me!!

Alrighty groovy people, that should catch y'all up for now.  Later gators!

Peace-n-Luv!

Debbie

  1. Sorry to hear you're going to give up this blog, but I understand. I don't blog much lately because of working full time now and also because I admit that (sadly) I spend more time on FB these days. I try to get at least one post up a week though. Let me know when/if you start a new blog. I will definitely follow it as I'm one of the groovy people who like to read what you have to say. Peace out. lol

    1. Awe thank you Lorraine! I can always count on you for support. Yes, its a little more difficult to blog when you have a full time job, and (sadly) I also spend a lot more time on FB. Its just so much easier! I'm glad you finally hopped on the FB bandwagon, its been a lot easier to keep in touch!!

      Peace,
      Debbie

  2. No!!! But, I understand. I've been so busy trying to start Down in the Delta that I hardly have time to blog anymore either, so I can't say anything...except that I'm looking forward to the next groovy thing you do. Your art is fabulous, and it's just the next chapter. Afterall, that's what life is about-one chapter, then another, and another. I'm following you on Instagram, so whatever you do, I will be looking in there. And I still want you to go on one of my fun adventures with me one of these days. Continue to be your fun, groovy, fabulous self...that's the Debbie we all love.

    1. Thank you so much Judy! Yes, people just don't realize how time consuming blogging really is! It is one thing if that is all you do, but as I told someone recently I don't just blog about an event or something someone else is doing, I blog about my work which means I have to do the work and then find time to write about it. You know how it goes. Quite frankly when I sit down at night the last thing I want to do is write a blog post. No worries tho, we'll stay in touch! and I can't wait to go an adventure with you!!!

      Peace,
      Debbie

  4. I'm glad to see you posting some news at least. Miss you! And all the artwork I'm seeing from you is FABULOUS! That painting above is gorgeous. Congrats to your little man on the college acceptance and scholarship and all. I understand your decision to step away from the blog and hope that you'll at least post here with a link to the new blog if you decide to do it. Otherwise I'll see you on facebook. {HUGS}
